Stuart Fishwick Dentist

Stuart began his academic journey at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences. This scientific training provided a strong foundation in human biology, physiology, and research methodology, shaping his analytical approach to dentistry and his ongoing commitment to evidence-based clinical practice. He went on to qualify as a Dental Surgeon at the University of Manchester in 2017, training at one of the UK’s leading centres for clinical dentistry and research.

Since qualifying, Stuart has worked in a variety of dental practices across the North West of England, providing both NHS and private dental care. This broad clinical experience has enabled him to develop a wide-ranging skill set and refine a calm, methodical approach to patient care, particularly in the management of teeth requiring detailed diagnosis and complex treatment planning. He has now relocated to Edinburgh, Scotland, where he continues his clinical practice.

Stuart has a particular clinical interest in endodontics (root canal treatment). This interest has developed through hands-on clinical experience and a focus on achieving predictable, long-term outcomes for teeth affected by pulpal disease or infection. He routinely provides root canal treatment for a wide range of straightforward and moderately complex cases within general practice, placing strong emphasis on careful case selection and the high-quality restoration of treated teeth.

Alongside his interest in endodontics, Stuart practises restorative dentistry with a strong focus on preserving natural tooth structure wherever possible. He is a keen advocate of minimally invasive dentistry and believes that saving teeth through high-quality root canal treatment and restoration is often the most conservative and beneficial option for patients.

Stuart is also an advocate of Minimally Invasive Aesthetic Dentistry, aiming to achieve functional and aesthetic results while preserving as much natural tooth tissue as possible. His work frequently incorporates the ABC approach — Alignment, Bleaching, and Composite Bonding — through which he has helped many patients achieve confident, natural-looking smiles. He is trained in short-term orthodontic systems and clear aligner therapy, offering discreet orthodontic treatment for suitable cases.

Known for his calm and reassuring manner, Stuart takes pride in helping patients feel at ease during dental treatment, particularly those who are anxious or apprehensive about root canal procedures. He places great importance on clear communication, taking time to explain diagnoses and treatment options thoroughly so that patients feel informed and supported throughout their care.

Outside of dentistry, Stuart leads an active and adventurous lifestyle. He has a strong interest in health and fitness and enjoys spending time in the gym, swimming, and skiing. A passionate scuba diver, he has explored a number of remarkable underwater environments around the world, including the Silfra tectonic fissure in Iceland, where crystal-clear glacial water flows between the North American and Eurasian continental plates.

Stuart also has a longstanding interest in cosmology and quantum physics and enjoys learning about the fundamental nature of the universe when not in the clinic. His passion for scientific discovery and human exploration led him, in 2021, to apply for the European Space Agency’s Astronaut Training Programme — a testament to his drive to contribute to humanity’s future beyond our planet. For Stuart, space represents the ultimate frontier of curiosity, innovation, and possibility.
